Hi! My name is Maiden Manzanal-Frank

I’m a Leadership Speaker, Author of the Leadership Book: Provocateurs not Philanthropists: Turning Good Intentions into Global Impact (Changemakers Books) and a consultant on strategy and change for purpose-driven organizations in Canada and internationally.

I have more than two decades of experience in social impact including global development, community development, policy advocacy, project management, and organizational development consulting practice. I specialize in the social impact, social innovation, social entrepreneurship fields through my expertise in leadership, strategy, and change management.

I’m a proud Rotary Peace Fellow and a connector of many changemakers to opportunities and communities informally. This I’m proud to do behind the scenes. Past employers, clients, and collaborators remind me of my effectiveness, integrity, professionalism, conflict resolution, and justice-foci commitments at the work and community levels.

I have been featured in many publications and spoke at hundreds of expert-led meetings and conferences in Canada and abroad. I write original essays, commentaries, and perspectives based on my lifelong work in this sector, field experiences in many countries, and living and breathing on these issues with clients and collaborators too many to mention.

The Sentimental Provocateur is all about Community

An engaged community of changemakers that are committed to grow their leadership skills, enhance their impacts, and enrich their careers and pursuits. You have tips, tricks, and actionable strategies for effective and empowered change-making as a non-profit professional, student, social venture founder, or dutiful volunteer for a great cause.

The long-game plan for this community is to be a vibrant space for reflection, growth goals, and collaborations with changemakers a.k.a. Provocateurs like you and me. I want not just two hundreds but thousands of people benefiting from this community because of collaborations.

Supporting this work means a lot to me more than you think. As an independent writer and observer of the social impact landscape, I will not be doing sponsorships and advertisement to free myself from such entanglements. I can write content that paid subscribers would like to read more and would enjoy a connection.

I will improve as I go and I intended my writing to a service to myself and this community.
